About Me
Hi, I’m Jared! Welcome to my corner of the internet, where I get to share the things I’m passionate about, the hobbies that keep me busy, and the journey that’s made me who I am.
Let’s kick things off with the fun stuff. I’m a traditional wet shaving enthusiast—it’s a hobby I started in 2017 to connect with the craftsmanship and nostalgia of my grandfather’s era. What started as a personal fascination grew into Thirsty Badger Shave Company, where I get to share my love for the art of shaving, post “shave of the day” content, and offer handcrafted lather bowls (made by my lovely wife) and 3D printables.
I’m also a tech tinkerer through and through. My home is practically a playground of smart automation, with systems for lighting, sound, and everything in between, powered by tools like Home Assistant and n8n. I’m constantly experimenting with technologies like Plex, Unraid, Docker, and Linux to keep things running smoothly—or just to see what’s possible! 3D printing is another passion of mine, and I love designing and crafting custom projects for my family. (Let’s just say they always have requests to keep me on my toes!)
Summers are all about Slopitch softball. You’ll usually find me on the local ball diamonds, playing a game or catching up with the amazing community I’ve been part of for years. And when I’m not out there, I’m spending time with my wife, Erin—a talented photographer and owner of Finelite Photography and Design—our son Cole, and our two rescue dogs, Georgia and Jessie, who make sure life is never boring.
When it comes to professional life, I’ve had a fun and rewarding career in technology. I’m currently the ERP Technology Portfolio Lead for the City of Saskatoon, where my team manages SAP systems to help drive innovation in city operations. My journey started with a diploma in Computer Systems Technology back in 1997, and since then, I’ve tackled roles in web development, system administration, and leadership. One of my proudest milestones is graduating from the Leadership Saskatoon program in 2022, which gave me incredible insights into community leadership and collaboration.
Whether I’m diving into a tech project, enjoying a smooth traditional shave, or playing softball under the summer sun, I strive to bring creativity, curiosity, and just a bit of fun to everything I do.
